This
is the beginning of a new day.
I have been given this day to use as
I will.
I can waste it, or grow in my art
and be of some service to my family, friends and fellow students.
But, what I do with this day is
important, because I have exchanged a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, today will be
gone forever.
I hope I will not regret the price I
paid for it.

The Kang Do Won Martial Arts Institute was
founded by Grand Master Richard J. Lewis in 1984. It has been providing excellence in Traditional martial arts instruction and self-defense training to men, women, children and families at it's current location in Wickliffe, Ohio since
1985.
The martial art, Lewis Tae Kwon Do, as taught at the Kang Do Won
(Kang Do Won translated means... "School of Inner Strength"), transforms average people into the extraordinary. This transformation occurs because the educational focus is on positive personal growth, healthy character development and behavioral modification.
The self-defense skills that Kang Do Won students acquire as a result of
their training are only effective with the necessary 'inner strength'
(heart) required to implement them. Self-defense starts
with self-confidence.
Training
at the Kang Do Won creates extraordinary Children and Adults by helping them achieve the following...
-
how to deal with and defend
against bullies and aggressive or dangerous individuals
-
how to identify and avoid
dangerous environments and situations
-
how to decrease and potentially neutralize the negative effects of A.D.D. and A.D.H.D.
-
improved work ethics, academic
behavior, study habits and grades
-
how to be more assertive and
have a stronger, more confident presence
-
improved social skills
-
the inner-strength needed to reject
peer pressure and the temptation to indulge in smoking, alcohol,
drugs and/or inappropriate sexual activity
-
development and/or improvement
of the following personality and character traits...
- self-esteem
- self-confidence
- self-respect
- discipline - determination
- courage
- honesty
- responsibility - concentration
- initiative
- trustworthiness
- obedience
-
development and/or improvement of leadership skills
-
weight control
-
improvement in personal
health, physical condition and athletic skills (never again will you
or your child sit on the bench and watch other more skilled
individuals play the game)
Greatness awaits
those Children and Adults who
"Dare to be Better!" at
the Kang Do Won.
